Quality, not Quantity -- I just set out to rewrite this page of my website after looking at the old page for four years, knowing it needed a facelift, but not knowing how I wanted to word it. I realized that the phrase said it all: Quality is the key to my wonderful birds, as opposed to the fact that I do not raise them in large quantity. Pretty simple.
I am a bird breeder; a bird behaviorist; a certified avian specialist; a pet bird owner; and most importantly, a lover and caregiver towards ALL birds and animals. The very few people who work for me are just the same, selected and trained by me personally.
All of the birds I sell I hand raise myself. Some of them I breed myself, and some are bred by only a few trusted friends of mine, who then give me the babies to hand raise as my own. These friends are the same breeder friends I have known and worked with for many years, so my baby birds are all from my same known flock. Thus I know my birds personalities, their traits, colorations, sizes, quirks, etc.
Then of course the most important part -- the hand raising and weaning. Only a breeder who is willing to take the time, and it DOES TAKE A LOT OF TIME, to individually raise each baby bird as if it were their own pet, can truly say that they "hand raise" their birds. Thatīs where the quality of the finished product shines through. Those first six months, the nurturing guidance, the midnight feedings, understanding and responding to the needs of the fledgling. Abundance weaning. Socializing. Teaching. Loving.
Letīs not forget, educating the potential buyer. Matching the right bird to the right person. Not every bird is right for every human. So the last phase of this Quality act is making sure that each of my hand raised baby birds is adopted into the right home, a good, loving and appropriate home for his or her type of personality.
So, thatīs what quality, not quantity is about.
