After waiting 15 minutes. I called 911 back. The operator told me that an ambulance was still "a ways off". That's when I decided to get in the suburban and drive her to Children's hospital myself.

I was leaving the driveway when up pulls a fire truck. We went back into the house for vital signs and stuff like that, and other stalling tactics until the medics arrived in an ambulance about 5 or 10 minutes later. It certainly seemed like much longer than that.

The medics were very competant and quick, but first tried to ignore our diagnosis of the situation, that she was having a brain bleed. Her blood pressure was 100/60, very low for a small child. Before the ambulance left the house however, they told me that their assessment of the situation agreed with ours. They inserted an I.V. and intubated her (a breahing tube *&!#$%).

They left for Children's and so did the rest of the family. The ambulance made much better time that we did, and there was substantial traffic in the downtown area around SR 520. We finally made it to Children's and as we entered the parking lot, an ambulance that looked suspiciously like Brooke's was exiting with lights and sirens.

It turned out the Children's CT Scan machine was down and they were sent to Harborview. We fought the traffic jams to get over to James Street exit on I-5.

We made it. Now the hairy part starts.
