Brooke was released from the hospital on Thursday, Dec 7. We got home at about noon.

The last 48 hours have been kind of depressing. Brooke just sleeps and her head hurts. She gives us a hard time about everything, wants to be left alone and does not want to be pampered, or treated special.

She takes an anti-seizure medicine call valproic acid instead of dylantin due to alergic reaction. Valproic acid makes her drowsy and dizzy as side effects. Lovely.

The biggest concern is her lack of eating. She has been losing weight since the episode, and is not eating much at all. Last night she had half of a chocolate chip waffle for dinner. Her intentions are good because she says she wants dinner, or is hungary. But after 2 or 3 bites, she cannot eat anymore.

She sleeps and lays around most of the day, but has some spurts where she is completely herself, generally in the evening. This leads us to believe that the anti-siezure medicine is depressing her during the day, and depressing her appetite. Try eating the next time you are dizzy. Since the medicine is only to be given for 7 days, we will be done this week some time and we will see if there is any change.

Last night she was "normal" for about an hour. This period of normalness seems to increase in length each day and occurs in the evening, although she can perk up at any time. People are blaming this on the medicine. I think not, I think it has to do with her head hurting.
