 Brooke's Gamma Knife procedure - performed in Jan 2001 - seems to be working. As of July 2002 (18 months later) - the viewable size of the AVM on MRI scan has reduced about 50%. This is great news for Brooke. Hopefully we will see complete eradication by 2004 as hoped.

Brooke's brain has bled twice from an AVM that existed from birth. The first on May 17, 1997 - The second on Sunday afternoon Dec 3, 2000. The second one was scarier than the 1997 event, but we reacted much quicker.

Brooke has experienced two bleeds from her AVM in the center of her brain. She is permanently disabled with only 20% use of her right hand. She has to do everything one handed.
